Remembering

Today I will spend some time remembering.

I will visit the grave of my sister. She passed away two and a half years ago, leaving a void in many, many lives.

She was one of those truly amazing people. A wonderful wife and mother to seven children.

Here are a few things I learned from her:

- Life is too short to be petty. Friendship and kindness are the only way to go.

- It's all about family.

- When you know you're dying, eat what you want.

- Just because it seems like no one is listening does't mean no one is listening. (This I learned from playing 20 Questions.)

- Spend more time worrying about what's on the inside and less time fussing about what's on the outside.

- A mother's love can change lives.

- The red dye in Hot Tamales may cause cancer.

- Angels are real.

Happy Memorial Day everyone.

  1. Julie, this is a touching post about remembering. There's only my sister and I left from a family of five, and we try to stay close.

Happy Remembrance Day. . . to our neighbouring American friends! Remembering saddens us, but we honour those who gave their best.

  5. Those are great lessons to live by. I especially like the one about not being petty. With my time being so short with my family right now I have learned to let things go and live day to day. I charish every minute with my family and live it as if it is my last time seeing them.

    1. Kuddos to you. Learning to let things go is one of the hardest lessons in life. You have a lucky family.

  6. It's so true, friendship and kindness are the only way to go. Life's so short and it's so easy to lose the true vision of what it means to be alive when we waste time in petty things!

I'm grateful every day for your friendship. I hope that you had a wonderful day.

    1. I miss her too. Especially this time of year when we're all thinking about Hebgen. That's when I miss her the most. It's just not the same there without her. Love you.
